Oceanbound and Guatemalan NGO Fundaeco are working together to stop waste in the rivers and protect the forest environment around Puerto Barrios.

THE PROJECT

A barrier designed for the Río Las Escobas.

Oceanbound designed, supplied and installed an Oceanbound Barrier in the Río Las Escobas in the forest areas around Puerto Barrios. The barrier is part of our practical approach to intercept waste in rivers before it travels further downstream.

Waste prevention starts with local involvement.

Fundaeco operates the barriers and performs awareness campaigns in these relatively low-populated areas to prevent waste from being thrown into the rivers and the surrounding environment.
