From the mountain landscapes of northern Pakistan, the Indus runs through the country to the Arabian Sea. Oceanbound is working to stop plastic waste entering and travelling through this river system.
Our ambition is to intercept waste before it reaches the sea and turn recovered materials into valuable resources.
THE CHALLENGE
Waste on the riverbank becomes waste downstream.
Municipal waste dumped along riverbanks can be swept into the river as water levels rise, carrying plastic and other waste further downstream. Intercepting this material is a step towards preventing it from reaching the sea.
