Oceanbound Honduras
Just a few kilometers downstream of the capital Tegucigalpa Oceanbound is working to stop the plastic waste.

Project
In the Rio Choluteca, just a few kilometers downstream of the capital Tegucigalpa, with almost two million inhabitants, we installed our Oceanbound Barrier.

Background
Tegucigalpa is the biggest city of Guatemala. The city is situated at a height of almost one thousand meters and located in a low mountain range surrounded by coniferous forests. The heavily polluted Rio Choluteca, also known as Rio Grande, empties into the Gulf of Fonseca, near the coastal town of Cedeño.

Cooperation
We are working with the Ministry of Environment and the largest recycler of Honduras, Diamante, to stop the plastic waste flowing down the river into the mangrove areas of the Bay of Fonseca.
